Heading to a bridal show this weekend? Bridal shows offers a lot of great opportunities for brides and grooms, but they can be a lot to take in. We’ve got a few tips to make sure you get the most out of your time at a bridal show:
Tip #1: Bring address labels. bridal shows = lots of forms! Vendors offer drawings and/or need your contact information to be able to send you requested info, quotes and follow up information. After being asked to fill out the same information at a dozen booths, you’ll be thankful you have labels to save you the time. If possible, include name, address, phone number, email address and wedding date on your labels (these are the most common form fields).
Tip #2: Bring your trusted companions. Bring along a few people with opinions you trust and value. You’ll meet a lot of vendors, be shown a lot of ideas and have a lot of options to sort through. Having an extra set of hands, someone to bounce ideas off of and ask questions you might forget to ask will be a big help. Note, it can be crowded and booths can be small so it’s recommended to keep your party to just a few family members or friends. You don’t want to spend your time herding your group through the show or trying to keep track of everyone.
Tip #3: Bring water & a snack. Walking a large exhibit hall, moving through large crowds and talking with vendors will take time and can be draining. Staying hydrated and fed will keep you feeling great and energized. Even better, designate one of your show companions to remind you to drink & eat. It may sound silly but it’s very easy to get caught up in the event so reminders help. Consider it practice for the wedding day!
Tip #4: Make a checklist. Grab the pen and paper and set a few goals for the day. For example, list out a few vendors you want to meet, a vendor type you’d like to narrow down or even specific questions you’re dying to get answers to. Having an organized checklist will ensure you don’t get distracted and are able to accomplish what you wanted/needed to. Many shows offer a vendor map too so if you are short on time, ask for a map to cut down on time searching for vendors you want to meet.
Tip #5: Comfort is key. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Bridal shows are a lot of walking and standing so the last thing you want are those perfect heels keeping you from meeting your top photographer.
