So you’ve perused Pinterest, brainstormed a ton, and are still having trouble coming up with a solid game-plan for your holiday party. We get it! And we are here to save the day.
First, consider your color scheme and the general vibe for your decorations. We decided not to completely stray from the traditional red and green color scheme, but to enhance it by brightening that combo up a few shades. On top of that, we wanted to add in elements of pink, blue, and gold/silver metallics. It led to a brightly colored rainbow of Christmas fun!
Our vibe was nothing short of whimsical, with a 1950s retro edge! We added tiny vintage creatures and ornaments everywhere we could. Try shopping at your local thrift and antique stores for décor. You never know what you’ll find, possibly for quite the bargain!
For your centerpiece, a super easy place to start is to find a few different coordinating wrapping papers that you love. Wrap a few empty boxes and scatter them about on your table! This feature creates a bit of height to the centerpiece, adding interest to your tablescape.
Matching dinnerware is no longer a necessity for party planning! We grabbed a variety of white coffee mugs varying in shape and height for the gourmet hot chocolate we served. We finished them off by sticking a striped paper straw into the whipped cream on top. We found our striped paper party plates on Etsy and silver metallic plastic cutlery at our local craft store. All perfect ways to display your Christmas themed sweets and treats!
A fun way to create a place card for your guests is by purchasing a pack of clear (empty) plastic ornaments. You can use acrylic paint to write either the names of your guests or a cute Christmas quote! We chose “be merry,” as it didn’t matter who sat where!
If you have a fireplace and mantle, the opportunities are endless! Dress it up with a colorful garland, some dripping (felt) icicles, and framed Christmas quote. This is another great spot to add more vintage decorations.
Finally, sprinkle that brightly colored confetti all over your table! We chose a combo of pink, red, and green found on Etsy. Because more is more and less is a bore!
And last but not least, add a cute doggy to the mix!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!
